Makita expanded its product line of power equipment tools at GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 21-23. The expansion included the MM4 4-stroke engine products, MM2 2-stroke chainsaws and a cordless equipment/tool lineup powered by an 18-v lithium-ion slide style battery. The company also reintegrated Dolmar Power Equipment into the Makita lineup.
“Raising productivity and efficiency is a driving force in the construction world, and it’s also a major factor in power equipment in the green industry,” said Dennis Stauch, vice president and general manager of outdoor power equipment for Makita. “Makita is giving landscapers, hardscape contractors and forestry professionals more solutions than any other manufacturer with efficient 4‐stroke and 2‐stroke engines, corded and cordless power equipment, and a range of accessories that help professional landscapers and contractors solve problems and be more efficient.”
The MM4 4-stroke engine power equipment include backpack and handheld blowers, a mist blower, string trimmers, brush trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, telescoping pole pruners and couple shafted products. For hardscape applications, Makita created the 4‐stroke engine power cutter with the 14-inch EK7651H. The company says this engine solves the problem of engine seizure due to improper fuel and oil mixing, a common failure of 2-stroke power equipment, with no fuel mixing required.
The integration of Dolmar power equipment will result, according to the company, in an expanded range of 2-stroke-engine, gas-powered chainsaws including entry-level 32-cc saws, 45-50cc mid-range and larger saws for the forestry professional, as well as an expanded line of 2-stroke concrete cutting saws.
Two 18-v Lithium-Ion batteries power the Makita 18V X2 (36V) tools, so users get 36V power, speed and runtime without leaving the 18V battery platform. Makita offers 18V X2 (36V) blowers, as well as a hedge trimmer, string trimmer and two chainsaws, with more solutions on the way, according to the company.
