Green industry veteran Judith Guido, chairwoman of consulting firm Guido & Associates, has expanded her role of adviser and advocate to Intelligro, an operating brand of Suncor, to help develop and launch Civitas Weedfree Brand Concentrate. The hybrid selective herbicide is designed to kill more than 60 broadleaf weeds.
Ruppert Landscape promoted Eric Long to area manager of the company’s Laytonsville, Md., landscape management branch, and Ibn Furaha-Ali to area manager of the company’s King of Prussia, Pa., landscape management branch. Joining Ruppert as a crewman in 2012, Long most recently served as a field manager. Furaha-Ali began with the company as an intern in 2007, working his way up to the field manager position. As area managers, they will be responsible for the sale, renewal and production of their branches’ landscape management work; the training and development of the branches’ personnel; and ensuring quality, customer service and customer retention.
Stihl hired Genie McClain as a marketing manager for the Mid-Atlantic division. McClain brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, sales, merchandising and product management with brands like AT&T, Gibson Guitars and Cunard Cruise Line. At Mid-Atlantic Stihl, McClain will be responsible for developing and implementing the branch marketing activities and communications programs.
The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) named Brett Lemcke, Phill Sexton and Stephen Hillenmeyer as ambassadors to the Foundation, the association’s $4.1 million foundation dedicated to advancing professional careers in the landscape industry. Lemcke of R.M. Landscape in Hilton, N.Y., and Sexton of WIT Companies in Albany, N.Y., each pledged $25,000 to the Jack Ingels Scholarship. Hillenmeyer of Hillenmeyer Landscape Services in Lexington, Ky., pledged $25,000 to the Stephen Hillenmeyer Landscape Services Scholarship. The scholarships will go to students enrolled in landscape contracting and/or horticulture programs at two-year or four-year colleges and universities.
