Representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will speak at the GIE+Expo on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. The presentations are free and open to all attendees.
“We are pleased that the EPA and CPSC accepted our invitation to this year’s GIE+EXPO,” says Kris Kiser, president and ceo of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute. “We encourage interested attendees to attend this briefing in order to stay informed on important regulatory matters.”
Glenn Passavant and Philip Carlson from the EPA Office of Transportation and Air Quality will speak at a 10 a.m. workshop in room C-202. They will be speaking on topics of immediate interest and importance to the outdoor power equipment industry. The presentation will include a question and answer session.
At 1 p.m., Janet Buyer, directorate for engineering sciences in the CPSC Division of Combustion and Fire Sciences, will speak in room C-202. Her presentation will address CPSC’s recently released staff report, “Technology Demonstration of a Prototype Low Carbon Monoxide (CO) Emission Portable Generator.” This report fully documents staff research performed under the agency’s advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) to address the CO poisoning hazard associated with portable generators.
