Ep. 125: What’s the buzz about the bees?

|

Dave Hunter of Crown Bees discusses the benefits of incorporating bees into landscapes. It’s not as crazy as you think. A specific type of bee—the mason bee—pollinates flowers, which increases flower production and makes our landscapes more colorful and vibrant. These harmless bees are easy to both purchase and maintain. Just as we install bat houses into our landscapes to attract bats and reduce the mosquito population, we do similar for the mason bee. Both are extremely valuable to our landscapes and the circle of life. Unfortunately, they both have bad reputations when it comes to stinging and blood sucking. Once you and your clients get past these stereotypes, you’ll be able to appreciate how beneficial they are to your projects. To learn more about “bee-scaping” and how to benefit from it, listen to this episode of Landscape Live!
