Scotts slows pest control acquisitions

|

Scotts LawnService (SLS), a business unit of Scotts Miracle-Gro Co., is rethinking its strategy to acquire pest control companies, Columbus Business First reported.

The Marysville, Ohio-based company completed the acquisition of Action Pest Control earlier this year in a deal expected to add $15 million in annual revenue to SLS, which had $323.9 million in 2013 revenue.

Last year, then-COO Barry Sanders said the company would make multiple regional pest acquisitions to make pest control a larger part of SLS’s business, Business First reported. Sanders left Scotts late last year as part of a restructuring.

“We’re just trying to be careful and I think it is probably going to cause us to slow down a little bit on the pest side,” Hagedorn said, according to Business First.
