John Deere built its 1 millionth tractor, a 5100M model, at its Augusta factory in Grovetown, Ga.

“Producing 1 million tractors is a significant milestone for John Deere and for the whole Augusta team,” said Mary Pat Tubb, factory manager, John Deere—Augusta. “We are proud of the legacy we’ve built as a company and of the goal we’ve had here in Augusta since we started: to design and build tractors for our customers that deliver the quality and value they’ve come to expect from John Deere.”

The factory produced its first unit, a 55 Series compact utility tractor, in 1990. Today, John Deere—Augusta produces 27 models of compact utility tractors that are distributed throughout North America and exported to more than 40 other countries.

The facility occupies more than 400,000 square feet, spans more than 175 acres and employs 470 employees.

“Since we opened in the early ’90s, the increase in productivity of John Deere utility and compact utility tractors has been remarkable,” Tubb said. “Customers can now get more done in less time, whether they are full-time farmers, contractors or just taking care of things around their own homes.”
