All-America Selections honors two horticulure pros

|

Downers Grove, Ill.-based All-America Selections (AAS) recognized two industry professionals at its Summer Summit and annual awards banquet held earlier this month.

AAS gave the AAS Medallion of Honor, recognizing someone with advancement in the field of horticulture, to Allan Armitage, Ph.D. He has served as an AAS Flower Judge from 1983 until his retirement from the University of Georgia in 2013.

The AAS Breeders Cup Award, established in 2004 to recognize a plant breeder who influenced horticulture by breeding new cultivars that brought improvements to those classes, was given to Ellen Leue of PanAmerican Seed.
