The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) 38th annual Student Career Days is slated to take place March 20–23 at Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, Colo. Registration is open now for companies to attend.
Student Career Days attracts 850 horticulture and landscape students from more than 65 schools to test their skills in real-world, competitive events and to interview with landscape, lawn care, irrigation and other companies at the career fair, which is scheduled to be held Friday, March 21.
Each year, 60 companies participate in the career fair where they have access to the nation’s top landscape industry students. Moreover, many of the industry’s largest corporations attend Student Career Days and sponsor one or more of the 28 competitive events.
“This is the largest recruiting event of its kind in the landscape industry,” said Ed Furner, Student Career Days chair, who also is a former student attendee of the event. “It helps build careers and it exposes students, to the vast opportunities and different types of companies that are in our industry.”
Companies like STIHL, the platinum sponsor of the event, sponsor competitive events at Student Career Days as a means to invest in the future of the industry.
“We at STIHL believe that the future of the landscape industry is bright,” said Roger Phelps, STIHL promotional communications manager. “Investing in it is critical and we are proud to sponsor the PLANET Student Career Days and its mission to inspire and prepare young people for their future.”
