HERNDON, VA—Three companies recently became Professional Landcare Network Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF) Ambassadors by pledging $25,000 donations to the Foundation, which awards scholarships to students enrolled in landscape contracting and/or horticulture programs at two-year or four-year colleges and universities.

In addition, David Minor, a Founding Ambassador and current PLANET AEF board member, has pledged an additional $25,000, elevating him to the Platinum Ambassador level. The name of his scholarship, which now includes his business partners, has been changed to the Landscape Partners and David Minor.
“On behalf of PLANET AEF, I want to thank our newest ambassador companies for their generous support of the next generation of green industry leaders and for helping us to reach further milestones to achieve our ‘5-by-5’ initiative,” says Jim McCutcheon, Landscape Industry Certified Manager, PLANET AEF president.
The “5-by-5” initiative, launched in spring 2011, was developed by the PLANET AEF Board of Directors to help raise the fund balance from $2 million to $5 million over the course of five years. Today, the fund has grown to $3.1 million.
