As concern for energy reliability surges nationwide, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) celebrates National Propane Day by encouraging green industry and landscaping professionals to explore propane as a reliable, onsite energy solution that can support greater peace of mind in uncertain times.
Oct. 7 marks the fourth annual National Propane Day, and this year’s theme, “Prepare with Propane,” is a reminder of propane’s reliability when other systems may fail. A recent report from the U.S. Department of Energy warns that blackouts in the United States could increase 100-fold by 2030 as the electric grid struggles to meet growing demand. Because propane is stored on site and never degrades, it remains ready even during widespread power disruptions.
“Customers count on their lawns and landscapes looking their best, no matter the weather or grid,” said Michael Newland, director of agriculture business development at PERC. “Propane ensures crews have the power they need on-site, day after day. It’s fuel that not only keeps operations moving but also demonstrates a commitment to cleaner, more sustainable practices.”
For the green industry, that reliability is critical. Landscapers, lawn care operators, and green industry professionals can rely on propane to power mowers and jobsite generators. This gives crews the ability to complete work on schedule regardless of fuel supply or grid conditions. Propane-powered equipment also reduces emissions and lowers operating costs compared with gasoline or diesel, allowing businesses to meet customer expectations for sustainable practices without sacrificing performance.
