Advanced Turf Solutions (ATS) has appointed Chip Houmes as its new technical sales advisor, bringing more than 36 years of turf industry expertise to the employee-owned distributor. ATS, headquartered in Fishers, Ind., supplies turf and ornamental products for golf course superintendents, lawn care operators and sports turf managers across the Midwest.
Houmes has held leadership roles at both Precision Laboratories and Aquatrols, building a career around providing innovative solutions for turf care professionals. In his new role, he will focus on providing technical support, leading sales training and driving the growth of ATS’s HydroPak surfactants program.
The HydroPak line is designed to help turf managers conserve water, improve irrigation efficiency and enhance turf resilience — a priority amid growing environmental concerns. ATS reports that independent research shows soil surfactants like those in the HydroPak program can cut water use on golf courses and sports fields by up to 20 percent while maintaining or improving turf quality.
“Chip has earned the trust of many across our industry,” said ATS CEO Scott Brame. “His technical and product expertise will strengthen our ability to support customers facing the challenges of unpredictable weather patterns and the increasing demand for sustainable turf solutions.”
ATS operates more than 24 locations serving customers in over 15 states throughout the Midwest. Houmes said he’s eager to bring his experience directly to ATS’s customers after years of working with the company as a supplier.
“After working as a supplier to ATS, I’m excited for the opportunity to be part of the team,” Houmes said. “From the outside, it always appeared like a big family, and now that I’m on the inside, it’s exactly what I thought it would be.”
