The Detroit Tigers have partnered with The Davey Tree Expert Company for a new community initiative to make the Detroit area greener. Through the “Triples for Trees” program, the two organizations have agreed to plant three trees in the greater Detroit region for every triple, or three-base hit, made by a Tigers player in a regular-season home and away game during the entire 2025 regular season. A minimum of 100 trees will be planted.

Davey Tree employees and Tigers personnel will be working with The Greening of Detroit to plant the awarded trees in the greater Detroit area after the end of the season. Tree planting dates and locations will be announced later this year.

Sandra Reid, executive vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning at Davey Tree, said the company is excited about this sports partnership in Detroit.

“We’ve been doing similar programs like this in other cities, so our local Davey team is thrilled that we’re expanding and will help plant trees in Detroit neighborhoods,” she said.

Reid noted that the “Triples for Trees” program aligns well with the ongoing efforts of the Detroit Tree Equity Partnership and its goal to plant 75,000 trees by 2027.

“Davey recognizes that trees make us healthier and happier, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this initiative,” she said. “As a company that has had operations from each of our divisions in the greater Detroit area for decades, we’re excited to continue supporting our communities through tree planting and care.”
