Makita, a manufacturer of professional tools, power equipment, and accessories, announced several new options for professional landscapers at the 2024 Equip Exposition.
40V max ConnectX Brushless Backpack Blower
For professional landscapers looking to make the transition to battery power, Makita introduced the 40V max ConnectXBrushless Backpack Blower (CBU04Z) and the 40V max ConnectX 1,500Wh Portable Power Supply, Battery Only (PDC1500). The Backpack Blower and Portable Power Supply combine to give users long run times and instant connectivity.
The 40V max ConnectX Brushless Backpack Blower, Tool Only (CBU04Z) is engineered for up to 2 hours of run time and features 25 Newtons of blowing power while running the portable power supply 40V max ConnectX 1,500Wh Portable Power Supply. Battery Only (PDC1500) is engineered for longer run times delivering over 1,500-watt hours of output.
The ConnectX Brushless Backpack Blower is engineered for longer run times and efficient cleanups. It delivers the power of a 64cc gas blower with 25 Newtons of blowing power to handle heavy debris. It has a tube-mounted variable speed trigger that adjusts between 0 and 696 CFM for power and run-time management. There is a cruise control lever speed lock-on variable speed trigger for comfortable continuous operation. It has a sound pressure rating of 62 dB(A), measured per the ANSI B 175.2 standard.
40V max ConnectX 1,500Wh Portable Power Supply

The Makita 40V max ConnectX 1,500Wh Portable Power Supply, Battery Only (PDC1500) is a high-capacity power source that delivers 1,500 watt-hours of output. It mounts directly onto select ConnectX products (sold separately) and connects to select backpack harnesses (sold separately). The PDC1500 provides the ultimate compatibility and can provide power to ConnectX power equipment as well as 40V max XGT and LXT 18V X2 (36V) systems (40V max XGT and LXT 18V X2 (36V) adapters sold separately).
The new 40V max XGT 4.0Ah High Power Battery (BL4040F) can deliver more power, run cooler and provide the power needed to maintain performance under continuous heavy load applications.
“The new BL4040F battery is a perfect example of Makita’s ongoing advancement in battery technologies,” said Robert Monroe, product manager, driving and fastening, Makita. “The power achieved with the new technology allows users to maximize the performance of the 40V max XGT line of products while maintaining a smaller form factor. Introducing this battery into our lineup expands our ability to meet every user’s needs.”
The new battery features cylindrical 21700 tabless cells that allow the flow of electricity through many paths rather than concentrating through a couple of tabs. This improves battery efficiency, thermal management, and overall battery performance.
The new BL4040F delivers up to 35 percent more power than the current 40V max XGT 4.0ah battery (BL4040) and is engineered to run up to 32 percent cooler while maintaining performance under continuous heavy load. It is also 34 percent more compact than a 40V max XGT 5.0Ah battery. The battery reaches full charge in 45 minutes or less, so users can spend more time working and less time with batteries sitting on the charger.
The battery features four bright green L.E.D. indicators that allow the user to see the charge level clearly. XGT batteries feature an advanced design with an impact-resistant outer case and shock-absorbing inner liner engineered to protect the battery in harsh job site environments. The digital communication within XGT optimizes performance to provide up to two times longer sustained power under heavy-load applications. The digital communication within XGT actively monitors and protects against overload, over-discharge and overheating.
18V LXT 8-foot Extendable Articulating Pole Saw (XAU03)

The 8V LXT 8-foot Extendable Articulating Pole Saw gives landscapers another tool to add to their Makita battery-powered outdoor power equipment system.
The Articulating Pole Saw features a split shaft that easily adjusts from 6 ft. to 9 ft. for a reach of up to 14 ft. The added length and easy adjustability give landscaping pros the convenience of pruning and cutting limbs in hard-to-reach spaces.
The XAU03 features nine angle settings and a 120-degree working range for precision cutting. This wide range of articulation allows landscapers to have the advantage of an adjustable tool that can make cuts in challenging environments.
Convenience features include a branch hook, a translucent bar oil tank with a large opening, and a soft-grip handle for improved access to different angles. The Pole Saw features “tool-free” chain adjustment for convenient operation and maintenance, as well as an automatic oiler for continuous bar and chain lubrication with a translucent bar oil tank with a large opening for easier refilling.
