Davey Tree promotes a pair

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada recently announced Greg McRae‘s promotion to regional vice president of National Railroad, Ontario. 

“Greg has been a valuable asset to the team thanks to his tremendous wealth of knowledge from his years of experience,” said Darran Malcolm, vice president of Eastern Utility and National Railroad, Canadian operations. “His innovative approach to modern vegetation management has been a benefit to the team, and I know he’ll continue to do great things with this promotion.”

Before joining Davey in 2018, McRae had 20 years of experience in railway vegetation management. He started with Davey as an account manager for Davey Canada’s Rail Division, where he led various vegetation management efforts to improve the safety of railroad crossings for trains and vehicles.

McRae holds a Utility Arborist certification through Manitoba Conservation, a Utility Tree Trimmer certification from Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, a Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification from Transport Canada and a Provincial Pesticide Applicator license through all Canadian provinces. McRae is also a member of various Canadian vegetation management organizations.

Davey Tree also promoted Don Roppolo to vice president of health and safety operations support. 

“Don earned this promotion through a career of leading by example with the highest levels of integrity,” said Greg Ina, executive vice president of the Davey Institute. “He holds all meaningful credentials and brings a culture of learning to his teams.”

Roppolo joined Davey in 2008, serving as crew leader, foreman and regional trainer before joining the recruiting team in 2011. In 2016, he was promoted to manager of arboricultural training for the education and training department. In his most recent role, he served as director of arborist training within the Davey Institute.

Roppolo was the former president of the Illinois Arborist Association and the Society of Commercial Arboriculture. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and holds ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification, Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist and Certified Tree Worker Aerial Lift Specialist certifications. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with an emphasis in urban forestry from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in natural resources with a concentration in urban forestry from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

LMC names new CFO

LMC Landscape Partners recently appointed Stephanie Suggs as its new chief financial officer. Suggs has 25 years of experience in accounting and finance, having held key leadership roles at many prominent organizations. Prior to joining the LMC team, she served as the CFO at NBG-Home and Wilbur-Ellis’ Agribusiness division and held the position of vice president and chief financial officer at HD Supply’s White Cap business. She also garnered valuable experience at Harris Corporation and Ernst & Young.

As CFO, Suggs will drive processes and spearhead several critical strategies and initiatives. According to LMC, Suggs’ approach aligns perfectly with its culture, which emphasizes innovation, collaboration and a commitment to excellence.

Suggs holds a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stetson University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
