Makita debuts new brushless string trimmer

|

Makita U.S.A. introduced a new 18V X2 (36-v) LXT Brushless Cordless String Trimmer (XRU17).

The XRU17 delivers the power equivalent to a 30-cc gas string trimmer.

The cordless string trimmer features a 17-inch cutting swath, a BL brushless motor and a variable speed trigger switch. The steel drive shaft provides less vibration and durability.

The XRU17 has a loop handle with a barrier bar, shoulder strap in the box and wide debris shield. It is also compatible with a brush cutter blade (sold separately).

It has three options for speed (4,60, 5,500 and 7,000 rpm) and automatic torque drive technology mode, which automatically shifts speeds to extend run time or add power. The reverse rotation function allows the user to quickly clear the trimmer head of entangled grass and weeds.

The XRU17 features Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology, which has a series of integrated seals engineered to channel away dust and water for increased durability.

The new trimmer also comes with Star Protection Computer Controls, a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.
